Day 12 April 18 - Adelaide Shores

We had a good day today the weather was much cooler but fine and sunny.  We had a late start to the morning then we did some shopping at Harbour Town.  Didn't buy much but Graham did get himself a couple of tops from Gazman.  We then had a walk down the main street in Glenelg and returned to the van for lunch.  We spent a couple of hours by the van reading our books before getting ready to go to Edna and Peter's for dinner.  We arrived there at at 4-15pm and spent a pleasant evening with them.  We had a really nice dinner and as always it is nice to sit in a house after being in the van for so long.  Edna and Peter are getting ready to go on a trip they leave on the 27th April.

Day 11 April 17 - Port Neill to Adelaide Shores

We decided on a long drive today as we thought it would give us a chance to spend two nights in Adelaide rather than just one.  We drove about 600 kms.  We are heading home for a short while hopefully as I need to see the doctor and prefer to see my own in Mornington.  We are staying at the Adelaide Shores caravan park it is a nice park but very expensive and the planes go over all the time so it is quite noisy.  We rang Edna and Pete and will be going over to see them tomorrow for dinner.

Day 6 - 10 April 13 - April 16 - Port Neill

We enjoyed our four days at Port Neill.

Saturday 14 - We were up and out early.  We visited Port Lincoln, Coffin Bay and Tumby Bay.  All very pretty areas.  We bought Oysters at Coffin Bay.  Graham and half a dozen Oysters Kilpatrick at the shop then we came home with two dozen and we cooked them in egg and breadcrumbs.  They were very nice indeed.  At Port Lincoln there was a great statue of Makybe Diva - triple winner of the Melbourne Cup.

Sunday 15 - The caravan park put on pancakes for breakfast today - they were very nice.  I finally caught up with some washing after a failed attempt.  The power was off in the caravan park from about 10am till 1pm.  Well I went down to the laundry put the washing in then when it would not take my money realised there was no power.  I couldn't get the washing out because it was was a front loader and the door would not open - I had to wait till the power came back on.  Then I thought I would have a shower and wash my hair - big mistake once again the power fooled me.  Anyway the power came back on after lunch so all was sorted.

Monday 15 - Today we travelled the other way - we visited Arno Bay, Cowell and Cleve.  We looked at a free camp at Yeldnuckie Weir, pity it was not on our immediate path as it was a really good camp with very clean toilets.  We also visited another camp at Cleve - again a good camp with power, toilets and a shower. This was $10 a night.  Once again we bought some Oysters at Cowell and had them as an entree before dinner.  Arno Bay had a clever way of using old tyres - they used them to build the boat harbour.

Tuesday 16 - Another lay day around the park.  Lynne and I took Bonnie for a long walk and we found some interesting spots around Port Neill.

We both liked Port Neill but if you are not a fisherman there is not much to do.  Most of the people that were on the park had their boat with them and would go out fishing each day.  As you would all know we are not fishermen.  The area is very pretty and we looked straight out over the bay from our caravan.

Day 5 April 12 - Iron Knob to Port Neill

Left Iron Knob quite early and drove through to Port Augusta to fill up with fuel and get some groceries before coming through to Port Neill.  We drove through some quite incredible countryside - sometimes quite flat and dry and then through some undulated.  It is all very dry.  We had late breakfast in Port Augusta then drove straight through to Port Neill.

We arrived here at Port Neill at about lunchtime and were quite surprised with the caravan park.  I had picked it up on Travel Auctions for $20 a night and it is quite a nice park right on the waterfront.  We met Lynn & Russell here and after a very quiet afternoon around the van went down to the local pub for dinner.  Dinner was quite good and only cost $48 for the four of us - it was a late celebratory dinner for my birthday.

We are here in Port Neill for five nights so I will just do a report at the end of the five days.

Day 4 April 11 - Peterborough to Iron Knob

We travelled through some very interesting scenery today.  At times it was very arid and then there were lots of hills.  One thing I have to say is that everywhere is very dry.  I am sure the South Australian farmers are crying out for rain.

Had lots of phone calls today - thank you all for your birthday wishes.

We are at a free camp tonight in a town called Iron Knob.  We stopped in Port Augusta to get some groceries and a few other bits.  Tomorrow we head for the Eyre Peninsula and we are meeting Lyn and Russell in Port Neill.

Day 3 April 10 - Mildura to Peterborough

Long drive today we left Mildura at 8-30 and arrived here in Peterborough at 3-30pm - after putting the clocks back half an hour so it was a long day.  We stopped in Renmark for an early lunch and had a quick walk around the town.  We both like Renmark it is a pretty town.  We then drove through to Burra where we had a quick stop for afternoon tea.  The weather it still very hot.  Spoke to Lynn and Russell tonight we are going to meet them at Port Neill on Friday.

Day 2 April 9 - Charlton to Mildura

Had a good run through to Mildura - we left Charlton quite earl after dropping the key off to the Butcher shop to get our deposit back.  We are once again staying at Buronga Caravan Park but we could not get a site on the river.  We did some shopping and fortunately I remembered that we were not allowed to take fruit and vegetables through to South Australia so I literally bought enough veges for dinner (cost me all of $1.54).  We had a quiet afternoon around the van, the weather is beautiful quite hot.
